Being in an 80s band gets you to see so many great sights and meet so many great people. Take the other week… a wonderfull balmy spring evening in a farm in deepest Leicestershire. Roast hog and beer in the garden, along with a marquee and us lot inside, playing out little socks off. Thanks to Julia and Paul for being great hosts…

Everyone had a fabulous time and said how fantastic you were and asked for your details – most people who were outside of the marquee couldn’t tell when you were playing and when the DJ was on!!

I have to admit to being a little apprehensive before you arrived as I had not heard you perform (my computer doesn’t have sound). But those fears were very quickly dismissed when you started your sound check. Many thanks for making the evening go with a swing.

We think we’re one of the best tribute bands around… but don’t just take our word for it. Here’s a great testimonial from Helen Evans of Birmingham, who’s 40th birthday party we played at in January 2009:

I booked A Kick Up The 80s for my 40th birthday party. I’ve never booked a band before and apart from the extremely reasonable price, I knew I’d chosen the right band as they were helpful offering advice on the venue for their requirements.

When I arrived on the night, they were already sound checking and before the guests starting arriving, boxes had disappeared and it was like they had become invisible. They worked with the DJ I had booked separately and left me to enjoy the party.

As soon as they started playing, people were up on the dancefloor and the comments on how fantastic they were started then and still haven’t stopped. The costume changes were slick and they put on a brilliant show, apart from obviously being accomplished musicians.

When the show was over – much to our disappointment, they became invisible again and if they hadn’t had said goodbye I wouldn’t have noticed them.

I can’t thank A Kick Up The 80s enough for making my party truly fabulous, not just their fantastic performance but their pure professionalism throughout. I would recommend this band to anyone and we are already trying to find events we can book for them for again.
